| Local Gas Station Charging Over $4 Per Gallon Near OIA
ORLANDO, Fla. -- There was a break for the holidays, but gas prices are ready to rise again. One local gas station, though, is already charging customers much more than others. RAW INTERVIEW: Manager Defends $4.49 Per Gallon Customers at the independent gas station near the Orlando International Airport are paying $4.49 a gallon. Some of the customers don't know the price they're paying until it's too late. There are no large signs showing the prices at the station. Most customers are tourists returning rental cars before catching flights at Orlando International Airport. Not all believe it's an honorable way to conduct business. "It's not fair. It's definitely price gouging during the holiday season," said tourist Les Lazarus. Even at $4.49 a gallon for regular, most of the pumps were busy at Suncoast Energys on Friday morning.
OIA receives go-ahead to charge new rental-car tax
It's about to get more expensive to rent a car at Orlando International Airport. Board members of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, the agency that runs OIA, voted Wednesday to adopt a $2.50-a-day tax on car rentals. The "customer facility charge," which would be capped at five days, could add as much as $12.50 to a customer's bill. Backers said the tax will raise money for $102.6 million worth of rental-car upgrades planned at the airport during the next few years, including additional parking spaces, fueling stations and car-wash bays. .
First Edition Cycling News
After spending Christmas with his family in Vittoria (Sicily), Italy, where he accumulated 2000 kilometres of training, 'Napo' is currently in Spain where he will pass the new year and build a base for the coming season. He is stationed in Gran Canaria of the Canary Islands with team-mates Fabio Baldato, Mauro Santambrogio and Daniele Righi, and their directeur sportif, Fabio Bontempi. "It is not a phase of preparation in which the presence of a directeur is detrimental," confirmed Bontempi to Tuttosport. "In the past years some of of our other riders have managed their own training in the Canaries over the New Year." The riders are averaging 120 kilometres a day, and will remain on the island until January 10. Napolitano will make his season debut with the sprint-friendly Tour of Qatar, January 27.
President Clinton is coming to Austin
I hope ladies who are bent on casting their vote(s) for Hillary Clinton think long and hard with what is at stake. Hillary and McCain are not the caliber to interact with persons world wide. More of ther same. <> Being bought persons they offer no change but much of the same. Sorry. Hillary hubby's pardoningof Marc Rich and Lieberman's guiding angry McCain as like a wheelbarrow. <>An Obama presidency would excite peoples everywhere in a belief that the USA was once again on a path striving to be the hope of mankind. To have such a talented human rise up to become leader of the free world - what a message to send to one and all. Were he to pick Ms Clinton as VP then we would have :) two black presidents in the WH. I wonder if he could deal with Bill wondering if he would tarnish the surroundings as like previously being the case.
Jeffry Gardner: End of The Trib is part of the demise of serious ...
He is, in essence, a dinosaur, as dated as a rotary phone, as out of fashion as a powder-blue leisure suit. At one point in the movie, Bell is seated in a coffee shop reading a newspaper. No cell phone, no flat screen TVs, no laptops. Nothing but a cup of coffee and the previous day's events afforded in cold black-and-white. Just 28 years ago. The Stone Age. For the past 28 years, and longer, The Tribune has been running up stairwells as journalists began taking elevators. Sure, it's an afternoon paper, and the changes came sooner and harder to that element of the business. But by and large, the bell tolling for The Tribune — and all of print journalism — sounds a lot like theme music to Fox News Network. Or the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric. In fact, it's easy to make a case that those nightly news themes, combined with the silent but deadly sounds coming from news sources on the Internet, have killed what was once considered not "fair and balanced" but rather objective and unbiased.

Trains' quiet zone on Frankfort Avenue may change
Louisville and St. Matthews officials are working with the state and federal governments to keep trains that travel on tracks along Frankfort Avenue from disrupting the quiet. It's going to take all of them -- and some sacrifice from residents in the Crescent Hill and Clifton areas -- to keep trains from blowing their whistles in the morning, afternoon and middle of the night at every intersection in a nearly three-mile stretch along Frankfort. .

Lawmakers to probe governor's grant to school, pardon to official
Gill, director of the Loop Lab School and niece of founder Elmira Mayes, was uncovered Tuesday in the Champaign County Circuit Court. Gill, a Chicago civil rights activist, had attended the University of Illinois and in 2002 was convicted for aggravated battery for a fight with a police officer there. Her lawyer said she was a chaperon on a high school trip and got involved in an altercation between another chaperon and a police officer. Gill and other officials for the Loop Lab School could not be reached for comment. Gill unsuccessfully appealed the case, but her felony conviction was expunged while she was represented pro bono by a Chicago attorney brought in at the request of Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. Jackson said that he thought the conviction was unfair and that Gill needed it expunged so she could work as a school administrator.
Honda CBF600S: Worthy but dull
The engine comes from the excellent CBR600RR, itself new for 2007, with the power output reduced by a substantial 42bhp to 76bhp to suit the CBF's role as novice machine. The motor is more compact and lighter than the old one - the weight loss is just as valuable to inexperienced riders as to supersport 600 ones on the CBR. A new aluminium-alloy frame reduces the mass even further - the old one was steel - while the bodywork is restyled, with the fuel tank a quarter of a gallon larger, and the instruments, levers, ABS and so on throughout the bike are all renewed. There is no question the bike does the job it's supposed to do, in giving tyro bike riders an easy time. The engine has sufficient torque even at idle to make stalling difficult, and anyway the clutch engages over a long period of travel and is light and smooth.
