Do toes know your story?

If the palms tell a story about our future, then the toes reveal something about where we've been. That's according to Chicagoan Gabrielle Loomis, a life coach who has added toe reading to her toolbox.

"Your toes are repositories for the emotional journey you're on, from birth to now," says Loomis, a certified toe reader in Chicago.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution

You don't get difference-makers without giving up talent, folks. Kotsay probably isn't the difference-maker that Drew was, but a healthy Kotsay is an outstanding defensive outfielder and class act who can hit .290-.300 with 12-15 homers, provide more veteran leadership, and be a terrific influence on Schafer and other young players.)

By the way, Kotsay's had success in Atlanta, both in the majors (.292 average with nine extra-base hits and 12 RBIs in 106 at-bats) and the Olympics. The two-time college player of the year hit .303 (10-for-33) with four doubles, three homers, six RBIs and 10 runs for the U.S. at the '96 Atlanta Olympics.

Batting order: So what will the Braves' batting order look like, assuming Kotsay is in it? I'm going to take a stab, though this could obviously change and I don't feel too certain about much more than the 3-4 slots:

Apple tweaks iPhone for business uses

In January Apple CEO Steve Jobs said the company has sold 4 million iPhones since they went on sale June 29.

The iPhone has claimed 28 percent of the U.S. smart phone market since its release here in June, according to Jobs. But many businesses have shied away because they want the device to work better with their corporate e-mail systems.

To woo more business customers, Apple said Thursday it's tweaking the iPhone to support Microsoft Corp.'s Exchange software, which addresses a key weakness in the gadget and puts it in more direct competition with Research in Motion Ltd.'s BlackBerry and Palm Inc.'s Treo smart phones.

Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide product marketing, said the software update will give iPhones the security and integration of e-mail, calendars and contact lists that businesses have been demanding.

Vanguard transfers 30 employees to St. Louis

Thirty employees of Tulsa-based Vanguard Car Rental are moving to the St. Louis offices of parent company Enterprise Rent-A-Car, company executives said Thursday.

Enterprise officials said the transfers affect 5.5 percent of the 544 Vanguard employees based at Cherokee Industrial Park.

"Thirty people have been offered jobs in St. Louis," Enterprise spokeswoman Laura Bryant said in a telephone interview. "Jobs also have been transferred from St. Louis to Tulsa. Operations in Tulsa are still very, very significant.

"We're in the middle of a methodical, well-thought-out integration process."

Nearly a year after privately held Vanguard merged with family-owned Enterprise in a deal in which no transaction price was disclosed, executives of the companies are still tinkering with aspects of the combined entity, officials said.

February 2007 Archives

People who know you inside and out and genuinely want the best for you and will watch your back. You've had the same posse since high school/college, so I'm sure you can see my point. How did things get so far outta control? She needs to fire her employees, family members and friends.

Tracy: Oh, Britney! To be honest, I just feel like how much more can anyone say about her? And I guess I'm a softie when I see someone get so slammed by everybody in the world. Don't get me wrong, I fully enjoy participating in ragging on stupid antics of celebrities, but sometimes I can't help but reach a saturation point. She's a wacko with tons of problems right now, no doubt, but that sentimental (or wimpy, you choose) part of me wants her to get it together and make a huge comeback. Psssst! I even want her to get back with J.T.

Liberal Tolerance Update: Lefty YouTubers Attack

I'll be checking in later today with a few choice examples of today's dose of liberal peace and love but in the mean time, have a look at the comments yourself. Notice also how many of these left-wingers blindly rate us "one-star" just because NewsBusted is conservative.

CBS 46 Investigates: Atlanta Payroll

The CBS Atlanta station recently ran a story on the City of Atlanta's overtime and payroll. The story clearly misrepresented the facts and it is important to clarify the facts for the public.

The story implied that 2006 overtime payments to Aviation and Watershed employees had an impact on the current projected shortfall-that is incorrect. Neither of these departments is in the General Fund, which is where the shortfall is projected. Budgeting for overtime is a standard municipal practice and not the exception in local government.

Overtime attributed to the Department of Watershed Management is largely the result of its attempts to meet the extremely tight Consent Decree deadlines. As you are no doubt aware, Atlanta's 15-year deadline is roughly half the deadlines enjoyed by other cities under similar consent decrees.

Blu-ray winner by KO in high-definition war

Sony Corp. has finally exorcised the ghost of Betamax.

The Japanese company's Blu-ray format emerged the victor in the battle to set the standard for high-definition DVDs. Its victory over Toshiba Corp.'s rival HD DVD leaves behind its embarrassing loss to VHS in last century's battle for the home videocassette market.
